I've only ever heard bad things about godaddy. Not sure why people use their hosting services,... maybe they have a good advertising department.You can obtain a free certificate from multiple sources like Let's encrypt but you need to install and maintain it yourself assuming Godaddy didn't disable that in Cpanel.That or switch to host that isn't charging you for something that is already included by most other hosts.
