How did you copy the attachments?
Yes all of this work is happening on a local machine running XAMPP php 5.5.30, XAMPP php 5.6 and a LAMP set up manually running php 8.3.6, I just moved around the different XAMPP and LAMP on the same operating system (Puppy Linux Noblepup64).
The
/file directory is from the live version already converted 4 years ago and resides on a commercial shared host server with cPanel and phpmyadmin.I tried several times with FTP set in passive, ASCII mode to download the
/files folder but seems not to work correctly. I can open the images once downloaded but their seemed to be images missing. I was using gFTP in this case. Usually I use Total Commander running under WINE to do the FTP transfers but did not this time. I should try out Filezilla as well just to test it out.Then I performed a backup which compressed the entire site as a tarball and downloaded that. Extracted the
/files directory and copied that to the converted localhost phpBB-3.0.7-pl1 and to the final phpBB-3.3.14 and all the attachments are working as expected!!!Thanks for the tip, it encouraged me that I was on the right track and brought some light to the darkness of a conversion from phpBB-2.0.21 to phpBB-3.3.14 with 1050622 posts and 27000+ registered users.
